Disney Re-Micks

My daughter was watching Disney Channel the other day and I saw one of the Re-Micks videos.  I hadn't seen that, and I thought it was so awesome.

It's usually fans that do this, but seeing Disney actually playing around with this kind of stuff, made me go ^_^ inside.  So much fun!!

I'm going to post one of them here, but you can just search YouTube for Disney Re-Micks and you will find many more.

Enjoy!!  :)

Love and Marriage

Sooo, my friend got engaged last Saturday.  I'm really really really happy about that.  I don't really know what else to say about it that won't spoil her own blog (see it here), so I won't say anything :-D - Then, after she posts her own things about the engagement and wedding planning, I may spill my happiness all over my own blog.  WOOOOT !!!! <3

I'm just going to post some love-y/marriage-y quotes here for her.  Not that I think she needs advice or suffers from any of the things I'm talking about here, but I'm going to post them anyways just because I personally think these quotes are very important.

I always say this, and can't stress it enough.
Patience.  So important and underrated :)

Don't compare your relationship to anyone else's.  EVER.
It's unfair to both you, and a recipe for disaster.

Never give up.  Trust me, it's worth it.  <3

Doll hair - fixed !!

I had seen many posts on Pinterest where people fixed their dolls' hairs.  I always wanted to try it and see if it worked... so I tried it.  And it worked.  :)

The idea is to spray the doll's hair with a mixture of fabric softener and water.  Then you brush through the doll's hair as if it was your own hair.  It's like a hair detangler for dolls.

I used a Victoria's Secret splash bottle that's about 8 oz or so.  I rinsed it well and then I put 1 tablespoon of fabric softener and filled the rest with water.  The original recipe said 2 tablespoons, but I had heard some moms on their blogs say that this was too much and the softener smell became too much.  I thought I'd use 1 tbs and then increase if needed.  1 tbs was enough, and worked well.

This is my daughter's Rapunzel before:

And this is Rapunzel after:

Now Belle was a little more damaged.  I think her hair was just lower quality than Rapunzel's  (which makes sense, since Rapunzel's hair is magical and all that *jk* ;-)

This is Belle after:

I put them both side by side.  You can tell that Belle's hair was still a little brittle, but at least I was able to brush it into her original hairdo.

This is one of those Pinterest things that actually works, and I'm glad I tried it.  We all know I'll have to do this again about 237 times before my daughter learns to be careful with doll hair, but for now it will do.  :)

Salmon, Greek Pasta Salad, and Crepe.

The other day I made maple salmon, greek pasta salad, and crepes for dessert.  If you click on the links it takes you to the page where I got the recipes from.

For the salmon and the greek pasta salad, I did exactly what they mention on the recipe.  Here is how it looked after it was done.

For the crepes, I also followed the steps on the recipes to make the actual crepe, but then I filled it with strawberries.  Then I poured a little bit of Nestle's La Lechera Dulce de Leche, and a little bit of powdered sugar.  Added to that a bit of vanilla ice cream, and it was just heaven!!

You can really get fancy with the crepe and put inside it whatever you want.  Substitute the dulce de leche with Nutella for example, and change to a different flavor of ice cream.  Put strawberries and bananas, or just bananas.  These are great even with salad inside, or anything you can think of really.

Now I kind of feel like going to the kitchen and making some crepes, but I just ran out of strawberries.  #damnit haha :)

Real-life Barbie

While browsing the net, I came across this article.  Clearly I was very impressed by this woman's resemblance to Barbie, so I Googled her name:  Valeria Lukyanova.

She has undergone multiple surgeries to look like a doll.  I was speechless at how doll-ish she actually looks.  I'm sure you can Google her name as well and come across a million pictures of her, but here is a preview:

I came across pictures of other ladies with the same doll-like look, and in my opinion Valeria has the best face of  them all.  Sometimes it even looked a little anime-ish.

In some of the other women, you can tell there has been plastic surgery done.  There is some obvious Botox, cheek implants, and things of that sort.  But in Valeria's case, her face is so smooth and so perfectly done that it feel as if she was born that way.  I think this makes it all the more freaky !!  It feels as if Barbie really grew life-size and stepped out of the box.

I'm not sure what made her want to look this way, but I honestly think she has reached her goal ten times over.

Note:  These pictures were obtained from doing a Google search.  I couldn't give proper credit because I don't really know which website they are originally from, since they are copied/pasted all over the internet.

Orly Flash Dry Quick-Dry Drops

I'm a mom of two young kids, work full-time outside the house, and have a pretty busy schedule when I'm not working or mom-ing (lol).  When I paint my nails, I don't have time to sit there totally helpless (as we all get after we paint our nails).  I'm usually on the go, therefore sitting around is not a luxury I can afford right now.

Lately I've been using these quick-dry drops.  If you do your own nails and you don't own these then you are missing out BIG time.  I can't stress how awesome these are.  Usually I apply the drops and within 5 minutes or so I'm ready to rumble.  We are talking diaper-changing, dish-washing, toy-organizing, shower-taking kind of ready, and my nails remain intact.

Orly Flash Dry Quick-Dry Drops, my savior !! I sincerely recommend these and you can find them at the Orly site for $10 (here).  I'm sure Amazon and eBay, or any other online shopping site that carries Orly products will have these as well.

I hope you try them, as I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Cups song, amazing version !!

I recently came across this.  There is not much to say, because the awesomeness of this video speaks for itself.  There is a Stomp-ish feel to this that I just love.

Isn't the internet a beautiful thing? Allowing people to showcase their talent on their own, no need for big companies to say whether you are good enough or not... let the public decide !!

My favorite is Sam Tsui (he is the first guy that sings, he is wearing the sleeveless shirt).  I was obsessed with his version of Adele's Skyfall.  The others are amazing as well, it's just that he is my favorite.  Maybe because he is the only one that I knew from before I came across this video.

Enjoy !! :)

DIY Incense Holder

If you need to light an incense and can't find the incense holder, there is a very simple and mess-free solution to make your own incense holder.  This was not intended as a replacement for the regular holders, because honestly they are very cheap and they look prettier.  However, one day I couldn't find my incense holder and this was just something I came up with as a hack to get the job done.

The only thing you need is a dish washing sponge similar to this one:

Then you need to wet the sponge but make sure you squeeze all the water out of it.  The reason to wet the sponge is so that as the ashes fall down, they stick to the sponge and it makes no mess.

Put the incense into the sponge, and instead of placing it slanted as you would with a normal incense holder, place it straight up.  I put a piece of paper towel under the sponge because I didn't want to put a wet sponge directly on my wooden table.  If the surface where you place the sponge is water friendly then you can skip the paper towel.  The final setup looks like this:

As the incense starts to burn, the ashes start to fall on the sponge:

I left this incense burning and came back to it way after it was fully burned.  Usually with my other incense holders, there is always ashes on the side because the AC hits it and since they are so thin, they go everywhere.  On this case, no mess:

Then you just take out the little wood stick, and rinse the ashes on the sink.  The sponge takes no damage and since incense ashes don't stink your sponge won't get icky.

Simple, mess-free way to be able to light an incense when you can't find the incense holder.

Hair: simple garden-fairy look for girls

This morning I was looking for something to do to Sofi's hair.  She was having a big hair day and didn't want me to brush it (she can be a diva at times haha).

I gathered these flowers which I bought at H&M (you can find them here) a couple weeks back and a butterfly that my mom got her. I think the butterfly is hand painted and made in Cuba, and my mom bought it on one of her recent trips.

I picked up her hair and arranged the flowers so that one was slightly above the other diagonally. The butterfly fit perfectly on the top left corner.  If you look at it, the three clips are making like a triangle.

This is what the finished hairdo looked like.  I think it's girly and great for summer, and very easy to do.

You can pick different types of flowery clips, with different butterflies and try different combinations.  This would look really cute and give a garden/fairy look to your little girl's hair.

Awesome site:

I just wanted to bring up that this site is amazing.  If you are researching the availability of a name on the social media, be it for a new business, new blog, or whatever it is you are up to, this site is just awesome.

Their description of what the site does is as follows:

"Check to see if your desired username or vanity url is still available at dozens of popular Social Networking and Social Bookmarking websites. Promote your brand consistently by registering a username that is still available on the majority of the most popular sites. Find the best username with namechk."

This is how the site looks like when you just arrive:

Then once you fill in the username you want to search for, it start to go crazy and search for that name all over the place.  it does it extremely quickly and it even searches for domain availability:

Until it's finally done and it shows you that name's availability everywhere, and I mean EVERYWHERE.  157 sites in total if you click on the "Show All" link.  I didn't, but here was the finished search for "myownsyntax":

Justice for Sage... and his Daddy.

Justice for Sage is a blog dedicated to bringing  a little boy called Sage, back home to the US.

"Sage was born on May 14, ‘07 in Durham, NC to my twin brother, Carlos David, and his wife, Ana Belem Garcia Rayon. In ‘08 he was abducted to Mexico by his mother. Sage turned 4 in May, and continues to be held there illegally, while my brother continues a tireless fight to bring him home. We love you Sage, and we won't give up until we find justice for you, your father, and your American family."  Link to full blog.
